Teatro Sannazzaro

History

The Sannazzaro Theatre, otherwise known as Bomboniera in Via Chiaia, was inaugurated in the nineteenth century. Great performers, such as Emma Gramatica and Ruggero Ruggeri, took to the stage. Along the way there are also several historic bars and restaurants of the city, such as the Gran Caffè Gambrinus, which forms the beginning of Via Chiaia, and the pizzeria Brandi, where in June 1889 was invented the pizza Margherita.

The street then ends in Piazza dei Martiri, from which you can access the Riviera di Chiaia down via Calabritto, or Chiatamone, down via Domenico Morelli. Just before the square instead, after the palace Cellammare, turning right, you can reach Via dei Mille. The route is exclusively intended for pedestrian transit.
